Id like to pay tribute to Judy Hoffman and say something that I - TopicsExpress

Id like to pay tribute to Judy Hoffman and say something that I did not include in this news article, as it would not have been appropriate there, but she helped me immensely with my Arcadia Publishing Images of America Godfrey book. She welcomed me into her home at her Alton loft in summer of 2013, and took my manuscript for a day or so, to read and edit, check it for accuracy. She approved with very little editing as I recall, but of course, this was during about the last four weeks before my Arcadia deadline, and the Arcadia book had been edited ad nauseam, lol, but she also saw no issues with accuracy. And, she gave me photos to choose from and information about her late husband, Lars Hoffman, who became the village of Godfreys first mayor when it was incorporated in 1991. He is pictured on one of the last three pages of my Arcadia book. Judy said she was very glad I had the good fortune to have Erwin A. Thompson as a major source for what I wrote (fyi Janet Riehl, just want to make sure you see this post), which Judy said took up where her book (Gods Portion: Godfrey, Illinois 1817-1865) left off. Judy also had talked to Erwin extensively about Godfrey historical information but the history was not exactly in the time frame that her book covered, she told me. She said he is a great historian, and he owns her book and told me he thinks the same about her as a writer and historian. He recently turned 99 years old this past November. Im just so grateful and lucky I was able to meet Judy, who I was blessed to see again when she attended one of my book signings at The Nature Institute, where she served on the board. I did a presentation, and boy, was I nervous, but I was so happy to see her there. Thank you again Judy, rest in peace.
