Id like to thank the Noel family (what a perfect last name for Christmas-time, eh?), along with the Erb family, for welcoming the small Brough/Luna clan (my dad and me) to their annual Christmas family celebrations. I wasnt sure what to expect this year, but sometimes, things turn out just how they need to. Highlights included: fancy blueberry cheese; mac and cheese casserole; a huge leg of tender lamb; the lighting of a candle that looked like a realistic fruit pie; getting schooled on post-gender, non-dualistic identity; a coloring book for grown-ups; tales of travel (Borneo, Bolivia, Louisiana, the Lake Erie islands); revelations about the inner workings of the Columbus judicial system; me borrowing West Side Penny/Penneys fetching blonde wig (and eventually forgetting I had it on); slabs of sweet-potato pie topped with homemade whipped cream; our usual session of bashing Todd Sines (with love, of course); and the evening-topping ending: posing for an awkward, obligatory group photo. In short, Christmas had it all this year. I even scored some homemade granola out of the deal. And I baked cookies. I BAKED COOKIES. Forreals.
