Id love to hear: How many of you are religious: meaning you regularly attend a faith community—mosque, church, temple, a meeting? •Spiritual but not religious: pay attention to certain precepts, like 12-steps and apprehend something else out there? •Secular/atheist: philosophies important to you but not another “being? I’ve struggled with the organized church for some 25 years, almost became an ordained priest in the Episcopal Church, finally decided not to. Now serve on the advisory board of a divinity school. When I got sick, I wanted to make sense of illness—as I am sure almost everyone does.I am a writer so my search for meaning comes about by writing about a situation. I was contracted to write an entirely different book than this one but the illness and the search for meaning in it changed dramatically my book, my faith and my life. What I learned centered on vulnerability. Ill be talking about this at Village Books in Bellingham, WA on Thursday evening at 7.
