Id love to hear everyones opinion on this! How does one know if they are ready to get another pet after losing their only beloved one of 15 years? Just a little over two months ago, I swore it would be a very long time before I could welcome another kitty into my home because the loss was so devastating, and still is. However, I find myself constantly desperate for feline companionship. Or is it just my longing to have Sam back in particular and not just any kitty? I feel disgusted with myself for even entertaining the thought because I feel that it would be a betrayal this soon and Im not sure how to process that. Lots of people say wait one full year so that you can get through all the holidays, etc., one time. And I agree with that. Other people say the answer is to go ahead and adopt NOW (now, as in, anytime before that). And after much thought and lots of time spent on this emotional roller coaster, I lean toward that too. They both make sense. Another thought, some people say youll just know when youre ready. Good one.. But thats still hard to determine when you are experiencing deep grief and craving kitty love at the same time. Whenever the time comes for me to rescue, whether it be next week, next month, or next year, I know that I will be the one whos actually being rescued. :) =^,,^=
