Idea of what food stamps means when youre disabled, and possibly just in general: We have $100 left in our last week! Thats 1/4th. Awesome, its just the right amount, right? Well -Ts mom bought us about $100 of groceries -Weve been eating one meal a day + snacks, just about every day this month. I am too fatigued to make much real food, so we snack a lot. We have no cash for ordering real food. So there are snacks. And snacks are expensive, so there is a lot of not eating. If we were eating /well/ every day, wed run out of food stamps less than halfway through the month. Some months we do, and survive primarily through the magic of friendship. And by survive I mean eat a tiny bit every day and manage to eat something every day. My eating disorder has gotten much worse because we have no money, which reminds me every day that I have not earned survival by being productive for some company or another. Did you know that SSI (USA disability benefits) are about $800 a month? Thats just enough for rent in some places. Thats enough for rent, utilities, and some food if youre lucky. There is nothing left to buy anything to enjoy, or order food when youre too tired to do a damn thing. We are not allowed to enjoy life because we are not producing something. The government can shell out billions for war and colonizing and whatever other shady shit it does, and keeps welfare around to distract middle class people and tell them all those no-good (ahem probably non white!) poor people are where all the moneys going. Lets cut welfare! Yes...cut welfare. Cut it over and over and over and keep the middle class complacent. Im dying because the government is lying to the middle class. But yes tell me again, middle class people, about how money doesnt buy you happiness. [Feel free to share this]
