Idolatry is everywhere in our world today. Yet we dont even give it a second thought. It is so blatant, no one tries to hide it. Just think about it for a moment. Sometimes we ourselves are guilty of it. There are movie stars, singers, sports figures, politicians. It is these people we worship openly. Our kids want to emulate them and we allow it to happen. People dress like their idols, they want to look like and be like them. And we say ok I will help you do it. We go out and buy clothes that make us and our kids look like their idols. The LORD said we are not to worship or have idols in our lives. Yet here we are an idol in almost every home and family, Christian or not. The LORD told Israel , while they were still in the wilderness, before they entered in the promised land, what they would face once they had crossed into the promised land.HE told them of the many battles they would have to fight, and HE told them what their enemies were going to be like. HE warned them about all the idols their enemy would have. HE warned them about their desire to intermarry with the people of that land, and HE forbid it, and HE told them what would happen if they disobeyed HIM and what their end would be like. I dont here anyone speaking out and warning the people of GOD today about the idols we have. Believers and non believers are joined in marriage all the time and no ones speaks out against it. But the WORD of GOD does. It doesnt matter what color your skin is, it only matters what your heart is. If your heart is GODS there is no place for an idol in it. If you have an idol in your heart, get rid of it, dont be deceived by the sins it causes. We are to be a separate people, we are in the world but are to be separate from the world. Let JESUS lead you , HE will be our guide if we will only let HIM and follow HIM. As Christians we are to become CHRISTLIKE, not like the world. We are to be a peculiar people set apart from the rest of the world. If we look like, talk like dress like everybody else in this world where is CHRIST . Isnt HE the one we should look like and act like, we are supposed to be the light of the world . We are to be a beacon in the storms of this world, and show forth a refuge from the world, not how to be like the world. If we become as the rest of the world, then we become as the blind leading the blind. Where neither one will enter into the refuge of GOD. HE saved us from this world of death, dont be as Israel dont turn around and be as the world HE has brought us out from. Israel cried out we miss what we had, we want to go back. And it brought them only death. We have to separate ourselves, and be the people GOD wants us to be. We must live our lives as a people of GOD. We must not join ourselves to the other people of the world. HE tells us to be their light, not the other way around.
