Idoma Youth Movement (IYM) has commended Senate President David Mark for facilitating the citing of The College of Health Sciences of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi in Otukpo. The Executive Secretary of National Universities Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie inaugurated the governing council of the College. He announced that President Jonathan has set aside N2.5billion for the immediate commencement of the In a statement on Sunday, President of IYM, Jonah Ogwuche said the siting of the College of Health Sciences in Idomaland to train medical doctors and other health professionals is the height of Senator Mark’s productive representative of Idoma nation. The statement said: “through Senator Mark, we now have an on-going construction of a N12billion dam in Otobi by the Jonathan administration, the on going construction of the Oweto bridge valued at over N40billion, the total rehabilitation of the Otukpo-Otukpa Federal Highway and the massive employment of Idoma people in Federal parastatals. “We recall with nostalgia the commissioning of the Otukpo Study Centre of the Open University by the then Vice President who is now President Jonathan. Senator Mark personally built the school and donated same to the open university” The IYM commended Mark for his unwavering commitment to the development of Idomaland through education and infrastructural development. Ogwuche pointed out that discerning Idoma people will continue to vote Mark as long as he contests, saying that the few who oppose him with connivance of outsiders will continue to be defeated at the polls. “But for Mark, the Idoma man would have been a slave in Benue. We are hardly employed by the state government, we cannot be Chief Judge, Speaker or Vice Chancellor in the state. We are denied the governorship. But for Mark, life would have been unbearable in Benue State. We are therefore not surprised that Mark is hated by Tiv people for working hard for Idoma nation. “Despite the hatred for Senator Mark, over 5000 Tiv students have benefitted from his scholarship scheme for four years running”.
