Idris Elba plays treasured world statesman Nelson Mandela in his latest movie and now he rubs shoulders with world’s number president Barack Obama at the screening of his movie – Mandela: Long Road To Freedom - in Washington DC on Thursday. Idris Elba aka DJ Driis is definitely a favorite for an Oscar come February. The Luther star certainly seemed like he was in high spirits as he mingled and chatted with excited well wishers while making his through the gates to the historic residence. The dapper star made sure he wore a smart ensemble for his grand visit to Obama ’s home. Donning an all black smart shirt, pants and overcoat, he still stuck to his stylistic guns by jamming his bare feet into his shoes [no sucks]. It’s not every day an actor is invited to a screening of his own film at the White House. Reports confirm that the world’s second most powerful man watched the pictures at the private White House theater at 6:00 pm local time as well as Elba , co- star Naomi Harris and two of Mandela’s daughters, Zindzi and Zenani also attended. Excited producer Harvey Weinstein said: ‘Knowing what a strong relationship President Obama has with president Mandela, it’s an honor for this film to be shown at the White House.’ Elba had plenty of reasons to smile too, as he is being tipped for an Oscar for his portrayal of the South African leader, who helped end apartheid in the country. Another reason the Cockney favorite may have been so cheerful is it is now became official he is dating saucy make-up artist, Naiyana Garth . Idris was pictured getting cozy with Naiyana at this week’s Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year awards at Claridge’s Hotel in London; With high speculations, he might be welcoming a child soon. Its official, Idris Elba is on fire!
