If Gods existence is denied, then anything becomes possible…even permissible. Fyodor Dostoyevsky There exists fundamental moral values that must be seen as objective truth and not subject to the relativism of our own subjective interpretation. These objective values are reflections of and participation in the Good, that which is God. Those Goods must be sovereign over the will. The negation of God, in the long run, can only lead to the erosion of fundamental objective moral values because the self legislating will takes over. The well known saying, the road to hell is paved with good intentions highlights the understanding that the self legislating will makes too much room for intentions and circumstances to govern objective moral truth. Those good intentions will make possible the most heinous acts. Just take a quick look back into the 20th century for some highlights. Faith is needed in God who is the Unconditional Good. Do not be afraid He tells us over and over gain. Turn in the darkness of Faith to God so that He may reveal the Light of Himself to you.
