If Governments in partnership with private Enterprises get together ,they can solve or greatly reduce this occurrence.The short-term measures often taken are counter productive . In Guyana there is a surge in Homelessness which can be attributed to a number of factors of which I will not delve into .The drug addicts population has significantly increased adding to number of people living and sleeping on our cities. The physiological effects on those individuals are detrimental to their health . Their state of unawareness and hopelessness has a indirect harmful effect on the rest of the population . Issues like these politicians use conveniently to bash their opponents without ever displaying actual solidarity and sincerity to the cause. In Guyana Vagrants and Drug addicts literally populate the outside environ of our parliament building ---the place where laws are created and issues of national interest are debated and pass. Yet the impetus which is needed to influence changes in this particular area has somehow diminished or completely off the radar. I recognize that the problem isnt unique to Guyana . However in Guyana the population is small and the life and positive contributions by those alienated because of whatever reason--- to be of much need .From an economic position we simply cannot stand idly while our relatively miniscule human resource pool drys up. We need to fight this scourge unifyingly ,this will not end or disappear with our input .
