If I Gained the World If I gained the world, but lost the Savior, Would life be worth living for a day? Could my yearning soul find rest and comfort In the things that soon must pass away? If I gained the world, but lost the Savior, Would my gain be worth the lifelong strife? Are all earthly pleasures worth comparing For a moment with a Christ-filled life? If I gained the world in richest measure, My name known and loved both far and near, But lost sight of that safe harbor waiting, Where my storm-tossed vessel I might steer, If I gained the world, but lost the Savior, Who for me endured the cross and died, Where in all the world could I find refuge Where my anguished soul could run to hide? O, what emptiness, without the Savior, Swept by sins and sorrows here below, And eternity, how dark without Him, Only night, and tears, and endless woe! And if I should live without the Savior, When I come to die, how would it be? O, to face deaths shadowed way without Him, And without Him all eternity...eternity! Oh, the joy of having all in Jesus! He who comes, the broken heart to heal, Neer a sin too great, but Hell forgive it, Nor a sorrow that He cannot feel. If I have but Jesus, only Jesus, Nothing else in all the world beside, Oh, then everything is mine in Jesus, For my needs and more He will provide. Oh, then everything is mine in Jesus!
