If I Ingest It, It’s Love My commitment concerning nutrition is - TopicsExpress

If I Ingest It, It’s Love My commitment concerning nutrition is simple: “If I ingest it, it’s love.” So, generally speaking, I eat wholesome, live, and organically grown food. I enjoy it with awareness, gratitude, and love. I chew it well and eat in moderation; otherwise, I exceed my body’s metabolic capacity and create digestive difficulties that diminish prosperity. Having done this for a long time, I know my body very well. I hear when it calls out for food, but I sometimes detect a different kind of invocation, an invocation to absence. That’s when the imemine, as quiet as a mouse, suggests to me that I eat and drink just to fill myself. It doesn’t ask for an organically grown apple or herbal tea. It wants a lot of food—a good juicy steak and a soda too. Usually, I feel worthy enough to give the imemine a friendly pat and thank it for its suggestion. But occasionally I do what the imemine suggests. I allow the creature to get a hold on me and then I gorge myself in a way that serves both lack and discomfort. That is where the commitment comes in. When I nourish, it’s love. I don’t kick myself when I’m down or suffer in shame and humiliation over “cheating” on my principles about healthy food. I do not shame myself or feel guilt if I bite into a hamburger and put some ketchup on my fries. I love myself. I love myself despite everything. I love myself even when I’m down, and I help myself to my feet. It is in such circumstances that small miracles take place. The unhealthy food that I ingest stops becoming a way to punish myself.
