If I Lose 100 lbs…Will I Have Saggy Skin? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Mr. DeFendis, I am a 44 year old female, I am 5 foot 4 inches tall and I desperately need to lose over 100 pounds. Last week I spoke to a woman in a chat room who lost about 75 lbs on a low carbohydrate diet. She told me that because 100 lbs is a lot of weight to lose, I might need a tummy tuck and breast lift afterwards because Ill be all saggy with extra skin. She also had one. Her saying this made me cry. Then I decided to ask an expert and that’s what brings me here. So I was wondering, will I experience a lot if saggy skin? Is there any chance that my skin will still have enough elasticity to go back for the most part so that I won’t need surgery? Help? Thanks! :) I really dont want to have plastic surgery after working my butt off (literally) to lose a bunch of weight. What would be the point of losing this weight if I will just be a skin bag? Mary Ann ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Mary Ann, First I would like to congratulate you for making the decision to explore the avenues to lose that 100 pounds. I know that it can seem a bit overwhelming at times, especially when you aren’t sure of the answers to some of your questions. Your question is a viable one and I have answered it many times before. The answer relies in the program. A low carbohydrate diet will cause one to lose muscle, especially if that person is doing a lot of cardio. A liquid diet will also cause you to lose muscle and slow down your metabolic rate, which will cause you to be soft with saggy skin. A very low calorie diet will also do the same. A program which offers a calculated, progressive Strength Training program is the key to success because it enables you to increase lean, shapely muscle and strength and improve ones metabolism while burning maximum fat and creating a firm and toned body. Another very vital and important key to adding lean muscle is the nutritional program that you combine with those workouts. It is essential that you are eating enough quality foods and nutrients to afford you the ability to recover and rebuild the muscle tissue that you are breaking down during those challenging workouts. The nutritional program must include quality carbohydrates, proteins and some essential fatty acids to afford you the maximum benefit. The meals have to be calculated with appropriate eating intervals and the correct amount of food for each meal. This is what our program Ultra Fit is all about. We educate each individual on exactly what they need in their workouts and nutrition. We challenge them with progressive and intense strength training workouts and afford each individual the knowledge to increase lean muscle, improve metabolic rate and create that firm, toned and tight body. A body with little to no sagging skin. Here is an example of one of our clients. Her name is Eileen Kane and she is 50 years old in the Before photo and the After photo was taken on a competition stage just 7 months later. You can meet Eileen at Chili’s in Anderson, as she is the manager there and she has implemented an Ultra Fit Menu to help people just like you! You can contact me if you need any further information Mary Ann. I am always here to help. My e-mail address is: defendis@aol Best of Success Always. Respectfully, John DeFendis
