If I cant post this here, please let me know, admin. Looking for advice. Im new to this farm and farm life. Living alone out here, which is kind of frightening. The Border Collie who came with the property is 14 and mostly deaf and partly blind, so Im trying to find an outdoor dog before she leaps the rainbow bridge. I have two dogs I brought with me from the city I moved from, but they are inside dogs. Looking to find a dog with these qualities: -is outdoors only -will not chase cattle (neighbouring pastures on three sides of me have herds of cattle. i have two calves, thats it... its chasing the neighbours herds Im worried about) -wont tend to want to wander off the property (10 acres, all fenced except the entrance) -lower energy level, calm, wont play really rough with my dogs or drive them and me insane(r) -barks at humans driving onto the property and hopefully keeps coyotes/bears away -wont eat cats Does anyone have any suggestions for breeds I should look at, or know/possess any individual dog(s) that could be a good fit? Would love to hear suggestions from those with more experience. Thanks...
