If I hear one more time about how you have to send your kids to public school in order for them to be properly socialized I think Ill puke! Oh.My.Gosh! Recently, 2 of my friends have asked about homeschooling on their pages and overwhelmingly the responses focus on socialization. Heres this mornings response on one of those pages, in case youre confused on where I stand. ;) The age old your child must be socialized argument. Because yes, when Little Suzie is 24 she will get a job working with only other 24 year olds, and she will go to a grocery store where the clerk is also 24, and her husband (if she so desires) will also be 24. Keep her home. Go to the library where the librarian is 40, go to the pool where the lifeguard is 18, volunteer at a senior center where the residents are in their 80s, take a dance class where the students are 4-6, go to the grocery where the produce guy is 30, and let her talk to and be friendly with them all. Because that, my friend, is socialization.
