If I see one more pirated image overlaid with an insulting inaccurate misattributed misquoted (usually Helvetica font). That somehow claims space on my newsfeed at least 2 or 475,089 times per day.. I am going to scream... They evoke excruciating pain and a desire to bludgeon my computer with a ninja weapon. I hate them. Internet memes fit into that category ‘YOU SHOULD BE IRRELEVANT IN MY LIFE BUT YOU’RE NOT’… First of all, I’m trying to come up with a more enigmatic word than ‘meme’. How do we pronounce this string of 4 letters anyway? Is it [Me-Me]? (that sounds like baby gibberish) Is it [May-me]? (this sounds like French baby gibberish, which is WORSE.) Is it [Me-May]? (that’s just a really dumb way to pronounce a word.) ….If it’s [MEEM]…as I think it is…can the genius that created the word explain to us why he not only wanted to ruin our lives by inventing it…but also opted to inflict torture by disregarding pretty much every phonetic rule! Here is a simple reason why I hate ‘internet memes’: Their originality scores lower than the spin-offs of ‘Shit Girls Say’. Each meme could pretty much relate to everyone reading them. They are overused and created for every noun and pronoun in the universe. (I often wonder: “Which mastermind will uniquely come up the next internet meme masterpiece about (insert whatever is trending on twitter)”) This is nearly the definition of ‘UNORIGINAL’. I also hate them, because I imagine Cheeto-eating idiots clicking mindlessly through these sites, for hours on end, barking hysterically at each image as if it’s the first joke, EVER. (and then I just think of pulsating clogged arteries…I’m not sure why). And that’s GROSS. But, clever fools, please keep posting them on each other’s walls. Maybe if you post, like, a BAZILLION of them, creativity will magically saturate your brain. But, probably not. I understand that after I post this, I should expect to receive more trite memes posted on my wall as repercussions. Can’t wait.
