If I’m caught, there’ll be a couple of guys showing up at my door with a beautiful new white jacket just for ME! They say, “Desperate Times call for Desperate Measures,” right?? When I was little, my Daddy got the biggest laugh out of coming the stairwell and yelling down to me, “Hey Punk, how many of YOU are down there?” I’d always yell back, “Just me, Daddy, just me!” How many of us, as little girls, played school? When I was little, I can honestly say, “I was my own best tutor!” EVERY DAY after school, I couldn’t wait to rush downstairs to do a replay of my day. Daddy had hung me a chalkboard on the wall, I had his office desk to sit in to play the BIG DAWG, and between the other furniture that I’d move out of the den, along with a child’s play kitchen table and other things to use for pupil desks . . . my classroom was set! I would mimic my teachers every word, until dinner time, even scolding my imaginary students, like my teachers did to peers in the REAL classroom! I NEVER sat down to study as a child, yet made exceptionally good grades. Not having a history or patter of study has been a hard habit to break as a college student, I might add! So, I’m thinking . . . tomorrow I may go out and buy me a chalkboard and a pack of chalk, then take it downstairs and hang that sucker up and PLAY SCHOOL, so that I can ONCE AGAIN tutor myself in a way that doesn’t bore the devil out of me! Yep, I’m desperate . . . three out of my four classes . . . I’m basically having to teach myself! In Spanish . . . we get handouts, a brief explanation, and then a video is thrown in (SPANISH SPEAKING, no doubt) and the teacher leaves! At first, this method of teaching was NO BIG DEAL, yet the further we get into it . . . a whole other story! And speaking of “story,” yes, there WILL BE a story come from this! I’ll either have a story of how a spinster college student pulled an A out of her rear, or I’ll have a story about my thirty-day lockdown in one of Tri-Cities finest psychiatric hospitals! Come on; think of the BIG picture . . . a great story either way, plus the experience or experiment, = a win/win!!
