If Mr Briggs has anyone advising him, I sincerely hope they are - TopicsExpress

If Mr Briggs has anyone advising him, I sincerely hope they are not getting paid. This is abject folly and NOT the way to get a shot at the best (if not always the most exciting to watch) heavyweight of his era. The way to earn a shot (and create genuine media interest as opposed to tabloid sensationalism and cynical spectacle) is to convincingly defeat a ranked contender in the ring. Briggs has barely managed that in the entirely of his career. He has had his moments, notably momentarily wobbling our great Lennox Lewis (before being decisively stopped) and he survived a grueling 12 rounds losing to Wladimirs older brother, then WBC titlist Vitali (though Briggs came out with a number of excuses afterwards). But neither a gift decision against an old George Foreman, a last gasp KO of an under achieving WBO titlist Siarhei Liakhovich or a 1st round TKO of 39 year old journeyman John Sargent for the vacant ultra - fringe IBU title, give any credibility to the statement that Briggs is the last US Heavyweight Champion Of The World. I am no Briggs hater. He commands respect for overcoming adversity, asthma and other problems including mental health issues (though he may want to make entirely sure he still has the upper hand in that latter regard). He made his mark and should be happy with (and leave it at) that. Calling Klitschko out on his opponents is beyond irony, and Briggs would do well to thank former Heavyweight titlist Michael Moorer, who stepped in in a tragic hold me back! style here. In this instance or in the ring proper, without any doubt whatsoever, were Klitschko to take this challenge seriously, Briggs would be in serious trouble, the only mercy for him would be that it would short lived and no less boring than these pointless rants.
