If We Are Wounded it Will Cause Us to Fall into the Same Pits and Traps Over and Over Again.....We Need Healing...and Healing is Possible.... Jesus Came to Heal Our Broken Hearts (Isaiah 61:1-4) Deena...:) The question that keeps coming up in these intense battles is ‘what wounds are triggering this?’...... At the deep level of our hearts..... what wounds are causing these reactions and behaviors?….believe me there is a reason ‘why we do the things we do…’ and there is a Great Physician that has the healing balm for our wounded souls...and the most important thing that I want you to know and always hold before you is that the gospel is....you are weak but He is strong (2 Cor. 12:9)....you cannot change yourself...if you could then you wouldnt need the Lord Jesus Christ...but He can change you...that is exactly why He sent the Holy Spirit...that is who the Holy Spirit is...He is the agent of change, transformation and regeneration....have you sinned against someone that you love?...have you made that same mistake again?...have you fallen down into that same pattern, hole or trap...AGAIN?....are you without hope dear one?....please hear me when I say this to YOU....there is hope...this is not the end....I know from my own mistakes, big failures and major weaknesses...that it is right there...in my biggest failures that the Lord has been there to pick up my broken pieces and put me back together again better than I was before....He forgives me and somehow in His special way makes something beautiful come from my broken and weak mess of a soul.... If we are wounded then certain things will be impossible for us...it is kind of like trying to walk when both of your legs are broken....those broken legs must heal first dear one...and in order to heal you must first see the Doctor...He alone can heal you and He desires to heal and restore you...and in that you get to know Him...and that is the best part of being healed...He is.....unconditional..all-consuming...passionate...LOVE.... The most important thing dear one is please do not give up hope when you make a mistake...He forgives you...and He sticks by you no matter what....ask Him to forgive you and heal, change and transform that broken wounded part of you...and I promise you that He will.....go get in His Word beloved..... I have found that staying in Gods Word is the key to eradicate wrong thinking and wounds from the past. The washing of the water of the Word of God will wash a person clean and make them whiter than snow. (Ephesians 5:26, Psalm 51:7). The water of the Word will seep into every crevice of a persons thinking and in time they will be renewed in the spirit of their mind (Ephesians 4:22-24) and when a new way of thinking comes in, Gods way,then they will be able to test and prove what Gods will is for their life. (Romans 12:1-2). By constantly looking into the mirror of Gods Word (1 Corinthians 13:12) you cant help but think like God thinks. But we all with unveiled faces, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:18). God can redeem and transform even the worst of offenders... If a we could take a look back and recognize where some trauma may have taken place, and see where the groundwork could have been laid, by the enemy of our souls……Where, when and how did those wounds occur…..pinpoint that exact moment, that exact spot where you were injured…….ask the Holy Spirit to show you and walk you through this process……He is your Comforter….your Counselor…your Teacher…and He lives INSIDE YOU….”I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be IN YOU.” (John 14:16-17) There are broken places inside us if we have done any living at all…….and the Lord will allow us to fall into the same pits or traps over and over again until we finally have had enough of it and desire to change…… that’s where this verse comes in, “the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed.” (Hebrews 12:13). The ‘lame thing’ is the broken part of us that the Lord desires to heal….that ‘lame thing’ is what is broken inside of us that continues to get us into trouble…..The Lord is looking down deeper, past the destructive behavior…He is looking at your heart….your broken heart is what is causing you to do these things beloved….if we are wounded it can cause us to get into all manner of sin and destructive behaviors….but God can heal that wound for you and your new healed heart will live and act differently!!! I promise you that beloved.. “Watch over your heart with all diligence, for out of it flows the springs of life.” (Proverbs 4:23). God is concerned with the heart—the well spring of life— we tend to focus on the externals of behavior rather than the internal flow of the heart. We tend to worry more about the “what” of behavior than the “why”. Accordingly, most of us spend an enormous amount of energy in controlling and constraining behavior. To the degree and extent to which our focus is on behavior, we miss the heart. (Tripp, p. xi). When one misses the heart issues, they miss opportunities to see the power of the gospel, driving us to the cross, and having us see for ourselves our greatest need is the grace that God provides. “We do not have a great high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:15-16)…..Did you read that beloved? Jesus understands why we do what we do, and He knows how hard it is and how much it hurts….He loves you and wants to show mercy to you and give you grace to overcome this!! Even the worst of the worst drug addicts, who have lost their children due to their addictions.....no matter what you have done or are currently doing....He loves you! Look at me...where I was...what I was involved in....He loved me and forgave me....He gave me a new life....a second chance...He wants to do that for you to....He sent me here to tell you that there is hope....do not give up!...you are saying...I cant do this! It is too hard... I cant change!.....you are right! you cant do it your self.....but He can do it through you....ask Him.... The central focus is the gospel, Jesus died and bore our sins on the cross….. He did that so that we can have a new life, forgiven….set free…..and we need to see that God works from the inside out. (Tripp, 2005, p. xxii). He is concerned with your heart! We must understand why we sin and how to recognize internal change…… The gospel enables us to face the worst in ourselves—sin, badness, and weakness—and still find hope, because grace is powerful. (Tripp, p. xxii). Oh the relief when we find a place of repentance, where our hearts are broken over our offense against God…… and then being able to take it straight to the cross and receive God’s grace and mercy to enable us to become more than we could ever think or imagine……You have not sinned yourself into a place where God will not forgive you! I promise you beloved that is a lie from the enemy! Jesus Christ is right there with you! Ask Him to forgive you and help you….I promise you that He will….. In our weakest times and the times when we feel the most broken we begin to see the truth that Paul discovered in 2 Corinthians 12:9 His “grace is sufficient for you, for His power is perfected in our weakness.” “When I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:10) …… I want you to know that Jesus Christ loves you very much and no matter what you have done or what you are currently doing….His grace and mercy is BIGGER than that….all you have to do is ask Him to forgive you beloved…..read Romans 10:9-10….and BELIEVE….
