If a fireman climbs up a ladder to put out a fire only to find - TopicsExpress

If a fireman climbs up a ladder to put out a fire only to find that the hose hes carrying isnt plugged into a water source, he becomes useless. His purpose is null. If a mountain climber heads up a cliff only to find his rope isnt spiked into a strong surface, hell fall to his death. Me...I pray every night. But in the beginning of 2013, I made a promise to add the rosary to my prayers. Though Ive forgotten it a few times, for the most part Ive been sticking to that discipline. The past couple weeks, Ive been irritated at a lot of things. Ive lost my temper & patience more often than I should. Ive gotten angry for trivial things. All in all, I was just cranky. I began wondering why. I mean, it isnt like I wasnt connected to God- Ive been praying the rosary every night! So why does He feel so distant & far away? Why do I feel alone in some of the things Im going through? Then it hit me. Yes, Ive been praying the rosary with my hands but I havent been praying with my heart! I havent just talked to Him. Though I was praying the rosary each night, I wasnt really connected. I was just mumbling prayers. I was following ritual versus showing love. Theres no problem with ritual. Ritual shows commitment. But if you do it just to go through the motions, it means nothing. Its like giving your wife or girlfriend a box of chocolates for Valentines just because you think you have to. You arent doing it out of love. What I found about myself is that I wasnt plugged in. My contact with God these last couple of weeks was disconnected. Blame it on being too busy. Blame it on lack of time or something to talk about. Blame it on redundancy. Whatever it is, I wasnt in tune with the source. Like a pair of headphones that isnt plugged into your phone, nothing was coming through. I couldnt hear Him. This is where many of us fail. We are either so caught up in problems or are basking too much in blessings that we forget to stay plugged in. To hear Him speaking to us & guide us. Then we wonder why He is so distant. So stay plugged in. Stay plugged in to all the things that matter to you. To God. To family. To your craft. To the world around you. To your life. Stay plugged in. Otherwise, youll just be rendered useless & will surely fall to your death.
