If a person does not fast without any excuse: in addition to the qaza, they have to pay Kaffara (penalty) which is giving 45kg of rice/flour per day to the poor and needy, in the country of their choice. If a person does not fast because of an excuse: (e.g illness), in addition to the qaza, they have to pay Fidya (compensation) which is giving 750gms of rice/flour per day to the poor and needy, in the country of their choice.
