If any of you know someone or are yourself a female vocalist that wants to be part of a Talking Heads tribute show, mini-version of the Stop Making Sense concert film, please pass this along to them or respond to me. Heres the ad weve been running on Craigslist and Bandmix: Were looking for a soulful female back-up singer for Talking Heads tribute show band Life During Wartime. If you love the Talking Heads, are familiar with the Stop Making Sense concert film, have a voice that is R&B/Soulful , can figure out harmonies quickly, are high energy and like to dance around on stage, this is the project for you. Were looking for a back up female singer who will also be up front throughout the show, to fill out our line up. We currently have all our members but you: David Byrne, our Bassist (Tina), Drummer, Keyboardist and Guitarist. Set lists are in place, video shoot imminent. We have a musical director and a very specific band outline and a clear vision of what we are going for. This is a very enthusiastic energetic group of people! Gigs forthcoming within a month or two. The show will be on a smaller scale , but similar to the 1984 Stop Making Sense tour. Heres a trailer youtube/watch?v=UD_2O3EurDQ . We dont care what age you are (best if youre at least 21 though, but not a total deal breaker if not), but wed like the following to be in your wheelhouse: 1) You are into putting on a show along with costuming. Youll need to be somewhat athletic. (Youll be upfront and an integral part of the show.) 2) Have your own transportation and be able to rehearse once a week, during the week. (Currently Wed nights in SE Portland) 3) While age doesnt matter, please be responsible and drama free. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping America beautiful! 5) Be willing to take some theatrical instruction. We are bringing in a theatrical coach and a possibly dance coach to help us hone the look of the show. Were not going for Broadway here, just some coordination to make the show the best we can. 6)Love the music, can quickly figure out harmonies and have a professional attitude. Thanks!
