If any, what are the practical implications of INSIGHTS (as opposed to intellectual understanding) such as we are all one? In situations, like those in Ferguson and many other places, when the full spectrum of the ego is triggered, what are the operational advantages of pondering seemingly non-productive ideas like enlightenment? When everything is on fire all around you, why would you stop and think about ethereal things like your tendency to function as mainly a self-referential being? Well, for starters, you´ve stopped being a part of the continuation of the problems by not participating for a little while. There is no fight when the will to fight isn´t present. That equals more available resources for the plus side of the equation, on the way toward balance. That´s even beyond obviously practical. In the long run, it creates a planet where caring for everyone´s well-being is the ruling decision, turning focus away from egoic acqusition of personal material benefits. The flowering of human consciousness (Eckhart Tolle). Both the short term and long term value is known through the experience of the contrast, visible all around us. The many faces of the turmoil, of which fundamentally the self-referential ego is the source. By simply taking a break from the activity you are creating a space where you are more able to recognize the destructive nature of the ongoings. A space, from which you can know the choice that is always present. The choice of acting from fear or love. Either way, you will be living the consequences of the conscious or unconscious choices. In every moment you have the chance to step out of the downward pointing blame spiral, and step into the upward pointing responsibility spiral.
