If anyone can offer any advice, it would be very much appreciated. My partner and I live in Surrey. His two children moved from the UK to Perpignan with their French mother when they were very, very young (now 20 and 15). They are bi-lingual but have had a fully French education. The older one is now living and working in London. The younger one will be sitting his Brevet next summer. Unfortunately due to the extreme ill health of his mother he is no longer able to live with her and, as we can think of no scenario which would enable him to stay in France (boarding school is not an option financially), it looks as if he will have to come to the UK and live with us. Psychological issues aside, we think it is important that he passes his Brevet (despite being orally bi-lingual he obviously would not be able to pass any UK GCSE exams) and then can probably go to an English vocational college locally but we are struggling to work out how to enable this to happen. There are a couple of French schools in London but, again, they would be unaffordable to us and one apparently has a long waiting list anyway. If anybody has ever been in a similar situation and had to bring a French educated child or children to the UK at this tricky age, and without the finances for private French schooling, any advice on how you made it work would be very welcome. We thought about a native French teacher home schooling him for the next two terms but our on-line research so far has only uncovered home schooling information for children to pass UK exams. Many thanks indeed. Julia
