If anyone has a domestic medium/ long haired cat that is has a tortoise shell color on 109 near jerseyville (technically jersey county, but close to madison), that doesnt have a collar or a microchip, she ran in front of my car and I hit her. I turned around to see what it was, and realized it was a cat. She was still alive because the bottom of my car hit her (not tire), so covered her with my jacket and rushed her to Hawthorne animal hospital in edwardsville and she already passed away. She died in my car 15 minutes away from the ER. I was petting her, and telling her to hold on, trying to make her as comfertable as possible, but she couldnt. The vet said she passed of internal bleeding, and most likely wouldnt have made it even if I got there right after it happened. She was a beautiful cat and seemed so sweet with just the 15 minutes of being with her. Im so very sorry and would do anything to go back to Change it. Please, no one be mean, im balling my eyes out and am heart broken. I will be knocking on doors around that area tomorrow in case the family doesnt see this, so they can hopefully get closure. Her remains are at Hawthorne, and will be held for 7 days while I try to find the owners. If i cant find them, she will be humanely cremated after the 7 days. If you are the owners, or know them, please private message me so I can get a hold of Hawthorne because her remains are under my name. Again, I am so very sorry for your loss and hope this helps the family heal.
