If anyone is interested in helping with the dogs at the Galveston Island Humane Society Run 4 Paws program, please go by the shelter and complete a volunteer application. You will have to go through an orientation in order to begin running with the shelter dogs. They select the dogs that they think will be the best on a leash, need the exercise and have a nice demeanor. Then, you run. As far as youd like and the dog can handle. You accomplish several things by doing this: assisting with much needed exercise for the shelter dogs, exercise for yourself, helping train dogs to be great pets for others, getting exposure for the dogs so they can be adopted easier AND I guarantee, it will make both you and the dog smile.
