If anyone is planning any home improvement projects, I would NOT - TopicsExpress

If anyone is planning any home improvement projects, I would NOT recommend using Lowes Home Improvement. On Saturday October 18th, we bought $3,800 worth of custom windows. We were told that it would take 14-16 days to come in, which would have been November 3rd or the 5th. Yesterday, being the 5th, I called Lowe’s to see if the windows had come in, because no one from the Manchester, CT store had reached out to us yet. Among the things I was told on the phone included the windows were not in and wouldn’t be coming in until November 16th at the earliest, the person who took the order was “no longer with [Lowe’s] because he routinely gave out bad information”, and that “this happens with this supplier all the time and there’s nothing we can do about it, even with the volume of business Lowe’s gives them”. If these things happen all the time, that should have been disclosed when we placed the order, so that we could have planned appropriately. Because now, we have a dumpster that we need to keep 3 additional weeks (it costs $515 for 2 weeks), a contractor who can’t install the windows, and two incredibly frustrated home owners. So now, the windows MIGHT be delivered while we’re on vacation, and just a few days before we’re supposed to move in. Now, rather than enjoying our vacation knowing that the house would be waiting for us once we return, we’re going to be stressing because we have two days to finish this project once we’re back, right before moving in. And that’s if Lowe’s decided to actually work with us, rather than giving us continued excuses. Save yourself the headache and use The Home Depot. I have never once had an issue with them. Lowe’s is only interested in taking your money and not delivering on their promise.
