If anything, this article speaks to the abuse of power that has become all too prevalent in the conservative government. The Nutrition North program, a $60-million annual food subsidy intended to help defray the high cost of nutritious food in the North, has been under scrutiny ever since auditor general Michael Fergusons fall report came out in November. In it, Ferguson revealed that the programs overseers are largely in the dark about whether Nutrition North is actually doing anything for the people who need it the most. Nutrition North has failed and it is unacceptable that Conservative patronage buddies are benefiting at the trough while northern families are doing without. ══════════════════════════════════════ $60,000,000 per year for food subsidies for a territory of approximately 20,000 people or less. That is like $30,000 in groceries per person per year! Where is this money really going? I cant even spend that much in groceries in a year! That is more like groceries for me, the wife, my parents, and kids all at the same time; and it is still way far less than $30,000 per year! I think that volunteer board is not so volunteer after all!
