If everyone made an effort to purchase at least one present during the holidays from a local (non-box store) business you would be surprised the positive impact that would have on our local economy. And if you dont shop local on a regular basis, you might even be surprised with the difference in customer service when shopping small as well. The big chains wont notice missing one or two sales, but one or two sales might MAKE the difference in a small store. This goes for eating out as well, skip the national franchises and eat at a local restaurant once in a while!
