If infant mortality rates for white people in this country hit the levels seen in the black community, if there is ever a time when white women are over 40% less likely to even try breastfeeding, if health care providers start automatically assuming white women are not interested in breastfeeding information, if the entire system and cultural representations depict black families without bias and stereotypes 90% more than white families, and if daily acts of discrimination (i.e. following around stores suspecting theft, derogatory terminology, and a period of enslavement because of superior race ideas, etc.), THEN we can talk about a white breastfeeding week. Until then, white people upset that there is a week that isnt about them need to shut it and practice the phrase I SUPPORT YOU. Being jealous of the intentional support efforts for a group that has systemically been oppressed as part of our cultural dialogue is unattractive and smacks of ignorant entitlement and enforces why this support is so desperately needed.
