If it arent broken, dont fix it is the attitude of Ethiopian PM. The late PM Meles and current PM Hailemariam Desalegn are overconfident that they have a good handle on DIA. They put DIA in his place to the extent that they can take any measures against DIA if he ever tries to mess with Ethiopia and DIA wouldnt able to reciprocate . Of course, they slapped him once and he didnt do a thing about it. So Ethiopia has no incentive to make concession, unless otherwise DIA agrees to dialogue without any pre-conditions. It is interesting that the PM unequivocally stated that Assab is Eritrean and has no desire to take Assab by force at the time Eritrea is weak. Of course policies are dynamic and can change with situations,and change of parties and we should be careful in dealing with Ethiopia. However, DIA should stop this non-sense of preconditions he does not have any leverage now and he should simply come to table while being firm on the implementation and physical demarcation of the boarder according to the EEBC rulings.
