If my passion for history has revealed any great truth to me, it is the beauty of the human race. I often hear others say that theyve lost faith in humanity. I wont deny that Ive felt this way at times, but for the most part, when I look at people, I feel tremendous hope and joy. Cynical though I may often be, I find human beings to be remarkable. As low as we may sink, we never cease in our fight to rise higher and higher so that we might touch that warm light beyond the great chasms into which we so often fall. I would agree that humanitys times of cooperation and unity have often been far too few; nonetheless, I think that they demonstrate the true potential of our species -- and even our truest nature. These times of peace and plenty demonstrate that we can indeed reach what we always strive so hard for, and though I cannot prove it on any scientific basis, these same things are for me proof that mankind, though flawed, was designed in Gods likeness and image. I do not believe that we evil beings striving to be good; rather I believe that we are students striving to attain knowledge, perhaps even incomplete works of art looking to be finished, so that we may live as the masterpieces that we are.
