If my words look drooping and tired it is because we had a....drum roll.... 1,224 diaper week! Whew. Thank you to everyone who donated diapers - and a big thank you to the guys from Christ Lutheran Church for delivering and helping to put away all their wonderful donations this morning! Thanks to everyone for filling our shelves completely! This week was big in other ways: we had several new families and we gave out lots of equipment, 400-500 items of infant and childrens clothing, 5 cans of infant formula, roughly 60 jars of baby food, and lots more. An expectant mom came in today with her mother and confided that she had very little for the soon to arrive baby. We were able to give her a pack and play, a swing, clothing and basically help prepare for the babys arrival. They were overjoyed and their relief was palpable. We heard lots of God bless yous! today. Very sweet. It is easy to appear generous when you have the support of a generous community allowing you to give. It wouldnt be possible without all of you. Current Needs: Similac Blue Infant Formula Gerber Easy Digest Formula (for the baby with the liver problems) Sippy Cups Baby Tylenol Looking for a walker 18 month baby girl clothes Boys shoes size 1.5 Pull Ups size 2T Drop Ins for bottles- someone said they had some in the clearance bin at County Market but I havent had a minute to run out. Our backpack and school supply project is well beyond what we had projected for the first year. We planned to give 50 Piatt County children backpacks and supplies and are now planning at least double or more. We started giving the filled backpacks out this week and are still collecting more as each day brings another round of applications (13 today). Please consider checking out the FB page for the project. Our pool party was a wonderful success and we have one more event coming up- the Parents Night Out on the 25th. Please check out the page for more information. The Presbyterian Church VBS will be filling 20 backpacks on the 28. Thank you friends at the Presbyterian Church! Thank you to everyone who has assisted and donated! It is a great time to donate monetarily to the baby pantry because through the end of this month, Kirby Hospital is matching donations! Heidi Apperson is coordinating this effort and is accepting donations (also gratefully accepted at the baby pantry) which will be matched and used to purchase diapers in bulk through the hospital supplier. Hip-Hip Horray. Thank you to those who have donated! there have been amazing acts of generosity and kindness already. :) Although it isnt a day we are normally open, I will be in for a while tomorrow morning because a big clothing donation came in right before closing today and I want to get the baby pantry in better order. Feel free to drop in! Thanks so much, and I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!
