If one of your resolutions is to get your kids more involved in doing chores around the house, check out these ideas for chore charts provided by readers. The first photo, on the left, is from a reader, Melissa. She says: This is our daily chore chart. Each kid (I have 4) and mom and dad have chores. I rotate names daily so the same person doesnt do the same thing everyday. I also have it rotated where someone doesnt have a chore one day. Feed animals, unload dishwasher, set table, clear table, wipe table, pooper scooper for litter box, trash, mommas helper for any other task I need help with, bathroom cleaner who straightens up bathroom, drink getter for dinner, laundry helper and cooking helper. The second photo, on the top right, is from another reader, Dani. She explains, Our 9 year old is already very good at taking personal responsibility for her things and chores, so we recently started giving her an allowance (to teach about the value of $ and fiscal responsibility). After she takes out her tithe for church, half of the $ she earns goes to her college fund, half goes to spending $ for her. She sets a goal for what she wants to buy so she wont spend her $ on impulse items. We have daily chores, weekly, and she has extra chores she can do either to earn $ ($0.25-$1) or to earn a special occasion (ice cream date, skating rink, etc). Its a cookie sheet covered in fabric with chore folders taped on and decorative magnets. Finally, the third photo on the bottom right is from a reader, Chris, who says: Used a magnetic dry erase board (can write in special assignments), vinyl letters and magnetic label maker tape. This photo is from right after I made it, but the chores have since been sorted out, so each kid has their daily jobs, and the whole family jobs stay under the Chores section. So how do you get your kids to do chores, and how are they assigned? Id love to hear, or better yet, to see. You can submit your photos directly below, in the comments, or onto the page. The best photos will be featured both here on the page and also on the site.
