If people are moved to make a joke about you and youre having trouble with it emotionally, it helps to remember that the joke is always about the joker. That is, dont take it personally. Youre part of humanity. Jokes are funny because they touch something that most people can relate to emotionally. There is something about your personality or behavior that makes these people feel comfortable enough to make light of it. You could take it as a compliment, but youd be better off just smiling along because now you know something about the person who told the joke. They have told you what they think about you and you cant really stop them from thinking what they want to think. But you can be amused by it. When a joke is mean-spirited, its completely on the joke-teller and not you.
