If someone gave you a shiny new car, a big house with a pool, and $5 million dollars, would you boast about these things as if you made them happen? What if someone just gave you a job where you find success, nourishment that keeps you in good health, and a place to rest your head at night...would you brag about these things? What if you were given a mind that can think, hands that can work, and a sense of well being...what then? Do you claim these gifts as your own? Allow yourself to realize that everything is a gift from God, boasting as if it is not, dishonors the Giver. Take pride not in the things you have done, accumulated, accomplished, or become. Instead be grateful for the trust God has given you as a steward of these gifts. All of it is His, as are you. Be not your own idol, instead offer God that place in your heart and let your worth be measured by His love for you (which is unfailing). What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift? 1 Cor 4:7
