If someone says something nasty and negative to you it can not hurt unless the person inside is already damaged and hurting... Change from within is the only real change there is... If we are truly happy and content with ourselves we can handle the things that come our way... but if we have things we need to address then others words will cut us deeply... Me, I know for sure I have plenty of inner Demons, but I do realize I have a choice to react in any which way I want when someone hurts me, and so do you... Other people can teach us a lot about ourselves, so look carefully at why you are so offended at what THAT person said to you... sometimes, just sometimes maybe this person is there to teach us something about ourselves that needs to be changed... the universe can be clever like that... Maybe the expression hitting a nerve is true in the sense that when someone says something to us negatively or nastily to us and it hurts and angers us... an emotional block or problem has been touched on... literally addressed, a literal signal for us to take notice of... Maybe they touched on something within in us that needs to be focused on and worked on... If there is no element of truth in the insult then the person throwing the insult is probably suffering and their suffering is just overflowing... Either way, if we are aware we can act appropriately... in a way that we choose...
