If someone speaks a foreign language through the power of God - TopicsExpress

If someone speaks a foreign language through the power of God (meaning God has literally taken control of their mouth) along with an accompanying translation as a witness to unbelievers, (and if God does take control of someones mouth He will also provide a translator within proximity every time because He will not violate His own rules) then it is within the parameters specified in 1 Cor.14 other wise a tongue speaker is to remain silent, thats what the Bible says. It is not an angelic language nor a prayer language, it is the supernatural power to speak a foreign language unknown to the speaker as described in Acts 2, 10 & 19. nothing more, nothing less Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and animists all speak in tongues too, while others just have over active imaginations or are practicing a learned behaviour. Then the Lord said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart. Jeremiah 14:14 Speaking in tongues or a Biblical language is nothing more than the supernatural gift of God for a speaker to speak, and/or a hearer to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the wonders of God in a known language of the world, but previously unknown to the speaker. Paul laid down some very specific rules about tongues in 1 Corinthians 14 -Always have an interpretation, to determine if it is a known language of the world and not an “utterance”, or in other words, gibberish, the product of a person’s imagination. -No more than 2 or 3 at the most should speak in a “tongue” -One at a time in order. -If there is no interpreter, than the “speaker” must remain silent. Obviously this means that if there is no interpreter, it is not the supernatural power of God because His Word requires that there be an interpretation provided by a second party as confirmation that this truly is God literally taking control of that person’s mouth as described in Acts 2. -In all 3 instances in the Bible where someone spoke in tongues, it was always a man, and never a woman. 1 Timothy 2:11 states that in the assembly women are to remain silent. If this is the case as the Bible clearly says, then this reinforces the notion that women do not and cannot speak in tongues. Furthermore, there is not one single example in the Bible when a woman speaks in tongues. -The women were never to speak in a tongue. 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 confirms this. “Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.” Almost every one of these rules is violated by the modern Charismatic movement, every time. There is not one historical record of anything like what is happening now, happening in the first century church. -It is not an ecstatic “utterance”, a “prayer” language, nor a “worship” language. -It cannot be “worked up”, “taught”, “instructed”, “earned” or “learned”. -It is not required. 1 Corinthians 12:30 says: “Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?” -It is not necessarily a sign of Christian maturity. 1 Corinthians 14:20 says: “Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.” 1 Corinthians 14:23 goes on to say: “If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?”
