If that wasnt the craziest finish to the Iditarod! Jeff King, had it in the bag when 65mph winds pushed him and the dogs into a driftwood pile. He tried for an hour and a half to get back going again and when he couldnt, he pushed his GPS emergency button and scratched so that snow machines could come in and find him and take him and the dogs back to Safety (literally - Safety is the last checkpoint). Aliy was forced back to the cabin at Safety and waited until the third place musher, Dallas Seavey passed through and then Aliy followed. Dallas Seavey pressed on to Nome and won his second Iditarod Championship, crediting his older lead dog, that he ironically bought from Jeff King, for getting him through. Dallas had no idea what had happened and when he passed the finish line. He thought he was in 3rd until someone told him he had won it. I will post a photo as soon as they are available.
