I guess it depends on how one perceives categorical statements. Europeans (& by extension White Americans) have collectively been making categorical statements about their feelings toward Black people for more than 400 years, it is us who refuse to accept those categorical statements, but they have been very unambiguous about what they think of us and how they want to co-exist with us.
