If the ICC moves beyond its recently-announced preliminary - TopicsExpress

If the ICC moves beyond its recently-announced preliminary investigation to a full investigation into the Israel-Palestine case, I suspect that it will: 1) take several years to do any of this, 2) probably not indict any/many Israelis over military actions in Gaza, on the grounds that many/most illegal actions by the IDF are generally prosecuted by the IDF, or otherwise are not of sufficient gravity; 3) possibly indict Israelis over the blockade/siege/closure policy, 4) almost certainly indict Hamas officials for rocket firing (I suspect this is part of Abbas intent), and 5) almost certainly indict Israeli officials for settlement activity (which is very clearly illegal under international law). The latter would be a particularly interesting outcome, since it could result in the indictment of the Israeli prime minister and cabinet ministers.
