If the OTR letters didnt guarantee immunity from prosecution then what if anything was the purpose of issuing them at all? If issuing a letter to John Downey which resulted in a trial being abandoned was a catastrophic error then were the other 186 letters also catastrophic errors? If the letters now dont guarantee immunity from prosecution then why even consider the option of rescinding them because they are already null and void surely? And the nonsense being perpetrated by the DUP that they didnt know anything about the letters is cods wallop-their gripe is that the story leaked out and they were seen to have agreed to a situation where a deal was struck in favour of republicans. Another sorry spectacle in the farce that is Stormont. All this to sweep under the carpet the same type of deal that has been struck in different conflicts time and time again.
