If the UCI was some rogue state holding a two candidate election for its next leader where the challenger has followed all rules and requirements as stipulated in the constitution while the incumbent leader attempts to re-write the election process in an attempt to ensure re-election, there would be serious mutterings at the U.N. and military hardware would be getting polished ready for use for the ensuing conflict. While bloodshed is not expected as a result of the election for Presidency of the UCI, the actions of Pat McQuaid are no less wrong and only go to demonstrate how corrupt the UCI appears to have become under the leadership of him and his predecessor. What do McQuaid & Verbruggen have to hide from an election that is run off in accordance with the constitution of the organisation that between them they have led for the last 22 years?
