If the event centre proposal is successful, a Winnipeg based hotel chain (a lot of speculation it is the Radiisson) would be interested in spending millions of dollars to build a new hotel in the North Core Waterfront Entertainment Disrict. If the new event centre proposal is successful, a private developer would be interested in spending millions of dollars building a six story tall mix use commercial residential complex in the North Core Waterfront Entertainment District. These two projects alone would generate jobs and annual dollars for our tax base! We have witnessed a major transformation of the North Core with a huge amount of dollars from the private sector investing their money on new boutiques, eateries and watering holes. Can you imagine how many more millions of dollars in private investment will occur once the event centre has broken ground? The economical development prospects alone are enough to make me support this very important proposal. We want to keep our youth in Thunder Bay...this is one of the ways to do this. We have been told a few times over the past 30 years to wait. Im tired of waiting. We need a new event centre.
