From the first slave of the West Indies, to the West African slave trade To the ones barely surviving off that minimum wage The war that they wage On the poor Prisoners of war by the millions Trapped in a cage In the home of the brave I rage Against the machine created To enslave the body And put the mind in a cage. The soul to restrain Estranged from ones true identity Making you feel strange About your culture Making you believe the lies on that page Assimilating in exchange For a facade Like when they gave Us foreign names Associating us with poverty and pain. Hells on earth They fan flame Man versus nature Pollutants reign Toxic water, acid rain The world maimed All for the material gain No shame Human natured depraved Sent to an early grave Decades later and the message is still the same Who told you to hate yourself, He asked you like I ask today.
