If there are singular stories, certainly the one that I’m going - TopicsExpress

If there are singular stories, certainly the one that I’m going to narrate is one. My intention, in this grassroots documentary is to let you discover the peculiar universe of five young Palestinians who are united by the art of words. From those words we will extract the essence of the sorrow that the Katiba V have been letting out for more than 15 years with their rap. Year after year, they became more than rappers, they became the journalists of their community in Lebanon. This five crew members’ uncommon trajectory is going to take another turn today. Indeed, on the 5th of June 2013 they will officially exit Lebanon for the first time to go to Liverpool for the “Liverpool Arab Arts Festival.” My intention is to follow them in this adventure. From Beirut to Liverpool, this is the story of the flight of Katiba V sorrow. To film the Katiba V in Liverpool is also to catch the feelings of a youth too used to the frustration of the non-recognition of their identity; although we can affirm that their message shakes Palestinians’ conscience in Lebanon, this message faces hardships in penetrating Lebanese’ ears so much the Lebanese censorship made an effort to circumscribe their words. For the Katiba V, the chance to escape their open air prison takes a missionary character. They will be able to exchange thoughts about their living conditions in an environment that will let them be free to express their sorrow. My intention here will be to seize their relationship with the ‘beyond’, and with this room of freedom offered to them during the 15 days of the “Liverpool Arab Arts Festival.”
