If theres one big thing I learned from Singaporeans, it could be their great sense of honesty and accountability. According to them, they are not inherently honest than their neighbor countries because they also came from same roots - Malaysia, China and India. However, the strict rules against corruption and strong enforcement of laws keep everyone honest - and will also keep immigrants and tourists honest. Kahit iwanan mo lahat ng valuables mo sa daan, walang kukuha. Kung may kukuha man, hahanapin nila ang may-ari at ibabalik ang mga gamit. Singaporeans, too, are very afraid of their government. They do their best not to commit any crime because like one man I met yesterday he said, we are striving to be good always because we do this for Singapore. This country is owned by Singaporeans. No one else but us will bring Singapore to its success or downfall. They know that they are highly accountable of the things they do.
