If they believe it or not..they need our help. Elected community leaders in Marion County have pressed through a community park that we should respect and utilizes to its fullest. I have spoken with them via e-mail and they ensure me that they have many planned projects for the Palatine Riverfront. They stated that ALL past ongoing events will still have access to the park for their continued endeavors, but I don’t trust their imaginations to fully utilize the park. The McParc will operate and maintain the park but with limited personnel and budgets, may need civic groups to sponsor fun activities for the people of Fairmont/Marion County. Please add your thoughts of simple/inexpensive activities that might be sponsored at the Palatine Park using the river as a focal point. We need to have some sponsored event on the water each weekend, weather and water levels permitting, all summer long Examples Rubber duck races, canoe races to Rivesville and back, anything that floats races, decorated pontoon boat display contests. Zorb ball races etc. Vote for your favorite or add your own. I will take to County Commissioner for input and direction.
