If this is the deal that goes through, Im disgusted with Democrats for caving. Not because I particularly care about strengthened income verification -- though if Republicans have taught me anything its that they love to screw poor people and this sounds like a way for them to do that -- -- but because *any* concession, *anything*, means we have taught Republicans that holding the United States hostage will get them goodies. It got them their sequester in 2011, and it got them income verification, whatever that is, in 2013. That means we will go through this massive self-imposed crisis, all over again, the next time the debt ceiling needs to be raised, which apparently will be next summer. As Matt Yglesias points out, that is a huge problem. Dammit!
