If this is true, and Ive no reason to suspect it isnt especially given what has happened to Glenn Greenwald, Edward Snowden and Julian Assange, to name just the more high profile figures, then freedom of speech really is over. The corporate fascists, their glove puppet politicians, and the media Barons will have silenced dissent, which is already marginalised and criminalised. The leg irons of the old days of slavery will have been swapped for electronic surveillance, eaves-dropping, CCTV, and the myriad ways in which all of our electronic social media activities are watched.
